The Master's program consists of 4 terms:
- Terms 1 and 2 procure technological know-how in form of lectures, tutorials and laboratory courses.
- In term 3 case studies are carried out in small teams of three to five students.
- In term 4 the programme is concluded with the Master's thesis.
By emphasizing knowledge transfer, the first two terms provide the methodical and technical foundation for the Master program.
In the third term, students develop technical and methodical, as well as social and individual competencies by working on team-oriented case studies. The case studies are based on and related to actual research problems.
The programme ends with the award of the degree Master of Engineering (MEng).

Credit points (CP), or ECTS-credits (stands for Europan Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) represent the standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students within the European Union. This system makes academic degrees and quality assurance standards comparable and compatible throughout Europe and facilitates student exchange.
One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS-credits, which are equivalent to 1500-1800 hours of study in all countries of the European Union, irrespective of standard or qualification type.
